Disclosures

Licensing, compensation, and the limits of what anything on this website is telling you.

Licensing

{{AGENCY_LEGAL_NAME}}, doing business as HowToHR, is licensed as an insurance agency by the Texas Department of Insurance under license number {{TDI_LICENSE_NUMBER}}. Our individual producers are licensed in Texas and in any other state in which they transact business.

You can verify our license, and any individual producer license, through the Texas Department of Insurance. The Department can be reached at 1-800-252-3439 or at tdi.texas.gov.

We are appointed with the carriers whose products we present. We are not an insurance company, we do not underwrite coverage, and we do not decide claims.

How we are compensated

{{COMPENSATION_MODEL}}

In most arrangements, we are compensated by commission paid by the insurance carrier when we are appointed as the agent or broker of record on your group policy. That commission is a component of the premium rate as filed, and it is present whether or not a broker is involved. Appointing us does not, on its own, increase what you pay.

For services outside a carrier relationship, including standalone human resources consulting, payroll system selection and implementation, and compliance projects, we are compensated by a flat fee agreed with you in writing before the work begins.

In some cases we may receive supplemental or contingent compensation from a carrier based on factors such as the volume or persistency of business placed with them. Where such an arrangement exists and is relevant to a recommendation we are making to you, we will disclose it.

On written request we will provide a description of the compensation we expect to receive in connection with your account. Ask and we will put it in writing.

Estimates on this website are illustrative

The benefits cost estimator and any other calculator, figure, projection, or scenario shown on this website is illustrative only. It is arithmetic applied to numbers you entered. It is not a quote, not an offer of coverage, not an actuarial projection, and not a prediction of what your costs will be.

Specifically, where this site shows what a five, ten, or fifteen percent reduction in premium spend would be worth in annual dollars, that figure answers only the arithmetic question of what that percentage equals. It is not a representation that a reduction of that size is available to you, achievable by us, or likely.

Actual costs and savings depend on your group’s census, claims experience, plan design, funding structure, carrier underwriting, and market conditions at the time of renewal. Rates are determined by carriers, not by us.

No guarantee of savings

We do not guarantee that we will find savings, that costs will decrease, or that any particular outcome will result from working with us. Some employers who complete our free review learn that their current arrangement is already competitive. We consider that a legitimate and useful result, and we will tell you plainly when it is the case.

Nothing on this website constitutes a promise of a specific result. No statement here should be read as a warranty of performance.

We do not provide legal or tax advice

HowToHR is an insurance and human resources advisory firm. We are not a law firm and we are not an accounting firm. Nothing on this website, in our articles, in our reports, or in our conversations with you constitutes legal advice, tax advice, or an accounting opinion.

Compliance topics discussed here, including the Affordable Care Act employer mandate, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and wage and hour classification, are described in general terms. How they apply to your specific situation depends on facts we may not know. Consult qualified employment counsel and your tax advisor before acting on anything you read here.

Educational content

The articles in our How-To library are general information published for educational purposes. They reflect our understanding at the time of writing. Laws, regulations, thresholds, and carrier practices change, and an article that was accurate when published may not remain so. We date and update our articles, but you should confirm anything you intend to rely on.

Advertising

This website is an advertisement for insurance and advisory services. HowToHR is a trade name of {{AGENCY_LEGAL_NAME}}. We do not publish client testimonials, case studies, or client names on this site. Where we describe results or experience, we describe our process rather than representing outcomes achieved for specific clients.

Product availability varies by state, by carrier, and by group eligibility. Coverage is subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions, and limitations of the policy actually issued, which controls in the event of any conflict with anything described here.
